AMA CHARTER 2235
BYLAWS (Revised-Feb.2010)
INTRODUCTION: These bylaws are the rules and regulations of
Brunswick Area modelers and are set forth for the good of all club
members. These bylaws are to be honored
by all club members and their guests.
BAM, as an Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) club will operate under
the rules of AMA.
- The name of the club
shall be “Brunswick Area Modelers” (BAM)
- The club shall be a
chartered member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) and shall abide
by all its rules.
- The fiscal year shall
be January through December.
Election of officers shall be conducted in December. Newly elected officers will begin their
term on January 1 and serve for a period of one year.
- Dues are:
$15.00 a year for juniors.
$30.00 a year for Adults (Any member over the age of 15 is considered an
adult).
$20.00 a year for Senior Citizens (65 or older)
$35.00 a year for a family, all family members must live under the same
roof.
Dues
are payable in full at the beginning of each year.
- The President can
authorize expenditures of up to $25.00 per month without the club voting
on it as long as two other officers concur verbally with the
expenditure. Treasurer’s records
will completely document expenditures made in this manner.
- Members who operate any
type of Model will be required to join AMA and follow the AMA and club
rules posted at the field. Those
members who will not be operating models will be encouraged to join
AMA. However, if they elect not to,
they will be considered an Associate member and will not be allowed to
operate any model at any time unless they provide proof that they joined
AMA. Such members will be shown on
the BAM Club Member Roster as Associate Members
- Club meetings will be
held on the first Tuesday of every month (second Tuesday if the first
Tuesday is a Holiday) at a site designated by the President. Meetings will normally begin at 7:00pm.
- This agenda will be
followed at each meeting:
- The President or other
club officer will call the meeting to order.
- The Secretary will
read the minutes of the previous meeting.
- The Treasurer’s report
of the clubs funds will be reviewed.
- Old business will be
updated.
- New business will be
introduced.
- Any other business or
presentation will follow.
- Changes to these Bylaws
may be made by proposal at any scheduled meeting. Changes must be approved by two-thirds
(2/3) of the active membership at the following meeting.
- Flying fields club
rules will be voted on by the club and posted at the field. Club rules designed to augment and not
supersede AMA regulations.
- The club President will
appoint a Safety Officer who will be responsible for the presence and
maintenance of the AMA rules, a fire extinguisher and a first aid kit at
the field.
- Visitors from other
Clubs will be allowed to fly as a guest as long as they can show an AMA
card and membership in another club.
They will not be given the combination of the padlocks, but must
show ability to control their aircraft. Visitors not from another club but
with AMA membership will be allowed one day of flying as a guest, then
they must join the club to continue to use the field.
- Failure on the part of
any club member to comply with the laws set forth herein will be cause for
the issue of a caution letter from the leadership of the club. Any member who persists after receiving
a caution letter will be dropped from the active roles of the club. No refund of remaining dues will be
made.
- Any member dropped or
suspended from the club rolls may be re-instated when that person has made
a written petition to the President and has assured the leadership that
they intend to comply in all respects with the rules and regulations of
the club. Dues must be paid to date
before membership is re-instated.
- The club leadership may
enact temporary rule changes to prevent safety hazards to persons and
property at any time to be in effect until the club membership can enact
changes to these bylaws.
- These Bylaws were
enacted/amended and approved by a two-thirds (2/3) majority vote of the
members at the meeting held on August 7, 2001.
